Freddie Wilson's Haida name is Skundaal, and he is from the Raven clan. He is the son of established Haida argillite carver Cooper Wilson, and is the brother of Haida artist Donnie Edenshaw. Freddie is inspired by his brother and his father, as well as Haida artists Christian White, Jim Hart, Gwaai Edenshaw, and his uncle, Guujaaw. Freddie works in both traditional and non-traditional forms. For example, he carved a miniature argillite skateboard with trade-bead wheels, and a Chinese flying dragon with a red tongue carved from catlinite. While Freddie was introduced to argillite carving and Haida art through his family, he plans to branch out into wood, and gold and silver jewellery. In 2009, he was featured in Breathing Stone, Carol Sheehan's book on argillite. In 2009, Freddie graduated from Vancouver's Northwest Coast Jewellery Arts program under established Kwakwaka'wakw/Haida artist Dan Wallace.
