Barry grew up with his father being a Chief, and with his grandfather being the first Native British Columbia Court Judge. He apprenticed under the prolific Kwakwaka'wakw artist Beau Dick for several years. Barry makes wood carvings, masks, as well as limited edition prints, and has created is own reputation as a prominent artist and carver.
