Gordon began drawing in high school and began carving wood shortly after. He has spent part of his adult life in the forestry industry. Gordon is passionate about working in the Nuxalk style, and he and his father recently finished constructing a Big House in Oweekeno village. His name is We-ya-ka-aye which is Nuxalk for 'Keeper of Eagles'. In 2009, Gordon graduated from Vancouver's Northwest Coast Jewellery Arts program under established Haida/Kwakwaka'wakw artist, Dan Wallace.
