"The 1" x 6" double hummingbirds with flower was done in a more relaxed style of Northwest Coast style of design. I wanted to create a softer use of the formline while creating a more elegant flow to the design's layout. I feel this was achieved with the balance of the flower, and use of hatching. Spring is seen as a new season and beginning. This is why I like to add flowers to pieces, as well as flowers being one of the hummingbirds' main food source." - Joe Wilson

This piece was created for the exhibition ‘Messages of Joy: Depictions of Hummingbirds in Northwest Coast Jewellery’ held at Lattimer Gallery between September 24 – October 8, 2022.
