Lori Davis
CULTURAL GROUP:
Haida
BIRTHPLACE:
Old Masset, Haida Gwaii
Lori comes from generations of cedar-weavers, wood-carvers, and blanket-makers. In collaboration with her maternal uncle, Dalbert (Alex) Weir, as well as other Northwest Coast First Nations artists, Lori has used their designs to produce wearable and stylish clothing and accessories. The hand-cut motifs are made of ultra suede and deerskin, which is then appliquéd with invisible hand stitching on various fabrics including cashmere-wool, deer skin leather, ultra suede, lambskin leather, wool, and manmade fabrics.
