Danny Poelzer is part of the Kitlope tribe, and holds Raven as his family crest. His cousins are Barry, Derek, and Garry Wilson, all established jewellers and wood carvers. He received training in wood carving from his uncle, Henry Robertson, and began carving on a regular basis in 1971. He is known for his rattles and plaques, and he has also worked on totem poles.
