Crystal Bee learned how to paint at the age of thirteen, and has focused on this medium, although she has always been intrigued by engraving. She learned to paint under Donna Ambers. Crystal has also worked in wood carving, learning from Leonard and AJ Scow, who are accomplished and patient teachers. In 2009, Crystal graduated from the Northwest Coast Jewellery Arts program at Vancouver's Native Education College under established Haida/Kwakwaka'wakw artist Dan Wallace.
